SNGPL inks deal on gas supply

ISLAMABAD: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has signed a Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) with M/s Savari Power (Pvt) Limited for supply of 100 MMCFD gas for setting up power plant on a fast track.

According to press release, Savari Power (Pvt) Limited will set up a 500 MW power plant on fast track basis at Faisalabad on SNGPL system, said a press release issued on Thursday.

Under the agreement, this 100 MMCFD gas shall be supplied to Savari Power (Pvt) Limited from the gas reserved for the power sector till such time the other four new independent power plants (IPPs) namely Orient Power Company (Pvt) Limited, Sapphire Electric Company Limited, Hall more Power Generation Company (Pvt) Limited and Saif Power Limited, with whom, SNGPL has already finalised the GSAs, are commissioned. These four IPPs are expected to be commissioned during the year 2009, according to the statement.

The agreement with M/s Savari Power (Pvt) Limited was signed by A Rashid Lone, Managing Director, SNGPL and M Rafi Khan, Chief Executive Savari Power (Pvt) Limited.
